The game
Is Derbymates really free?
Yes. You play every competition and run your whole club for free, with no time limit and no ads. Pro is optional.
How much time do I need?
As much as you like. A look into the office each day keeps your club on course. If you want more, plan training, transfers, finances and stadium expansion. You can watch the live evening, but you don't have to.
What does a day look like?
One calendar day is one game week. At 06:00 training and the books are done, at 17:00 auctions end, on Sundays at 18:00 there is cup football and at 20:00 the whole league plays at once.
How long is a season?
35 days: 34 matchdays, 5 cup rounds and the season end with prize money, promotion and relegation. Then it carries straight on.
What if I'm away for a few days?
Nothing bad. The autopilot fields your best fit eleven and open decisions are taken by the board after 48 hours, as neutrally as possible.
Are there real clubs and players?
No. All players, clubs and leagues are made up. You design your club's colours, crest and kit yourself.
Do I need an app?
No. Derbymates runs in the browser on phone, tablet and computer. If you like, you can add it to your home screen like an app.
Which languages does the game support?
German and English. You can switch the language at any time.
Pro and prices
Is it pay-to-win?
No. Money buys no players and no strength. The match engine is the same for everyone. Pro saves you work and shows you more information. The assistant coach only applies rules every manager can apply by hand.
What does Pro give me?
An assistant coach who plans training every morning and sets the tactics for the opponent before kick-off. Plus every player's potential, an opponent report before every match, 50 instead of 10 watchlist places, unlimited leagues, your own rules for your friends league, Pro designs and the supporter badge.
How much is Pro?
€4.99 per month or €39.99 per year, VAT included. The annual plan costs €19.89 less than twelve monthly payments.
Can I try Pro?
Yes. Every club you take over gets 14 days of Pro for free: assistant coach, potential, opponent report, the big watchlist and the Pro designs. The trial ends by itself. You enter no payment details and take out no subscription. Your settings stay saved. Unlimited leagues, your own private league rules and the supporter badge come with the subscription only.
What is Pro League?
Everything in Pro for you. On top, every manager in up to 3 friends leagues you created gets the Pro features for their club: assistant coach, potential, opponent report, the big watchlist and the Pro designs. Your mates pay nothing and sign up for nothing. They have the Pro features only while your subscription runs. If you have created more than 3 friends leagues, Pro League covers the 3 oldest. Unlimited leagues, your own private league rules and the supporter badge are for you only. Price: €9.99 per month or €79.99 per year.
How do I cancel Pro?
Via "Cancel contracts here" at the bottom of every page. No login, no detours. You get a confirmation straight away.
Can I withdraw from Pro?
Yes. As a consumer you can withdraw from Pro within 14 days without giving any reason, quickest via "Withdraw from contract" at the bottom of every page. All details are in the withdrawal policy.
Friends leagues
Can I play with my mates?
Yes. Create a friends league and share the invite code. Whoever joins takes over one of the AI clubs. Up to 18 managers play in one league.
Do I get anything for inviting friends?
Yes. Invite friends to your league. If your friend is still playing after 7 days, you both get 30 days of Pro features for free. Playing means: made a decision in the game within the last 2 days. You get the bonus up to 3 times per season, your friend always. It extends the Pro features of your clubs like the trial, with no subscription and no payment details, and has no cash value. If you already have Pro, only your friend gets the bonus.
How many leagues can I play in at once?
Up to 3 leagues for free, as many as you like with Pro.
Account and data
Do I need an account?
No. You start as a guest. Adding your email address secures your club and lets you play on all your devices. You need the email address for Pro.
How old do I have to be?
You may play from the age of 16. You can buy Pro once you are 18.
What data do you store?
Only what the game needs. No tracking, no analytics tools, no ads. Fonts and images come from our own server. The details are in the privacy policy.
